Snowfall is expected to affect most parts of China from Tuesday to Thursday, the National Meteorological Center (NMC) said on Monday.
NMC said in a statement that a cold front will move across the country from the west and meet with moist air from the south, bringing clouds and rain to central and eastern China.
The frontal system will strengthen the subtropical high, resulting in strong winds in the Yellow and East China seas, it said.
The NMC advised people to take precautions against possible disasters such as gales and lightning.
The cold front will also bring lower temperatures to most parts of the country, it said.
The mercury will drop by 6 to 8 degrees Celsius in Inner Mongolia, Gansu, Qinghai, Shaanxi, Sichuan and Yunnan, while the temperature in Northeast China is expected to fall by 4 to 6 degrees, the NMC said.
The weather will gradually improve from Friday as the frontal system weakens, it added.
